VM-850 Utility Locator - Precision in Low-Frequency Utility Detection
Choosing the correct frequency when locating buried utilities is crucial for accurate and efficient results. The depth, size, material, and congestion of the utilities must all be considered to select the appropriate frequency. For instance, large diameter, direct buried pipes with insulators and rubber gaskets (like those used for water or gas) typically require a higher frequency. In contrast, smaller diameter, well-grounded direct buried utilities, or those running long distances in conduits, are better served by a lower frequency.
The VM-850 operates at a low frequency of 9.82kHz, making it ideal for detecting smaller diameter utilities such as CATV, power, and telephone lines. This low frequency reduces signal bleeding onto adjacent services, ensuring precise identification of the target utility.
Distance Sensitive Left/Right Guidance™
This advanced feature of the VM-850 locates the strongest signal received by the antennas, guiding the user in the correct direction to position over the buried line. This intuitive system enhances accuracy and efficiency, making utility location faster and more reliable.
