ChrisNik 3-Foot Extension Arm 1736ARM
The ChrisNik 3-Foot Extension Arm 1736ARM is an essential accessory for the Pipe-Mic II, offering construction and surveying professionals an additional 3 feet for measuring pipe inverts or pipe diameters. This extension arm is particularly beneficial for projects involving larger diameter manholes, enhancing accuracy and efficiency. It is designed to be used with grade rods that have graduations in feet, tenths, and hundredths of a foot, ensuring precise measurements.
Key Features:
- Adds 3 feet of length to the Pipe-Mic II, facilitating the measurement of larger diameter pipes and manholes
- Compatible with grade rods featuring feet, tenths, and hundredths graduations
- Constructed from lightweight, non-rusting aircraft aluminum, weighing only two pounds
- Easy attachment and detachment process for quick setup and storage, no tools required
- Round foot design slices through material at the bottom of the pipe, ensuring accurate invert and pipe diameter measurements
How It Works:
- Begin by removing the existing 2-foot arm from the Pipe-Mic II.
- Snap the 3-foot extension arm into the shoulder bolt of the Pipe-Mic II.
- Place the 4-inch wheel of the extension arm on the invert of the pipe.
- Lift the leveling rod straight up by rotating the extension arm.
- Once the wheel reaches the top of the pipe, take your measurement.
- Add 0.33 to the measurement; this sum represents the size of the pipe.
Additional Benefits:
- Measure pipe inverts and sizes quickly, easily, and accurately.
- Manufactured in the USA for high quality and durability.
- Measurements are more accurate because you are measuring with a vertical plumb rod.
- Designed for use with Crain 25' SVR, USL rods, and the new double-sided Pipe-Mic II rod.
- Slides on and off in seconds for maximum convenience.
Operating Tips:
By pulling a pin in just seconds, you can switch from zero to 1 ft. vertical offset for clearance under the rod. This makes it easy to measure inverts even in difficult-to-reach areas. If additional clearance is needed, a 1 ft. extension (sold separately) can be added, allowing you to move the pin to the "1 ft. vertical offset with 1 ft. extension" hole.
To measure the size of a pipe:
- Directly read the depth of the invert when the pin is set at "zero offset" on the Pipe-Mic II.
- For clearance under the rod to measure an invert, move the pin to the "1' vertical offset hole".
- To measure a pipe that is hard to reach, add a 1 ft. extension and move the pin to the "1 ft. vertical offset with 1 ft. extension" hole.
The foot is 0.33 ft. or 4 inches. Take the reading from the rim, pull up, and take the reading plus 0.33 ft. to determine the pipe size accurately.
